The Fourth Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2021) will be held on July 26-27, 2021, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The conference will be conducted as a mix of in-person and virtual meetings.

The objective of the conference is to strengthen the regional dialogue, information and knowledge exchange in order to support climate-resilient evidence-based decision-making systems, as well as to explore the possibilities to ensure the synergy in climate projects implementation between international finance organizations and the development agencies in Central Asia.

 A series of our publications will be dedicated to the speakers and moderators of the upcoming event. And, today, we would like to introduce you to Firuz Saidov, National Climate Change Expert, one of the authors of the National Adaptation Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan. He will be a moderator at the thematic session dedicated to climate policy and the role of civil society.


Moderator

Firuz Saidov is a national expert on climate change and one of the authors of the National Adaptation Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan.

He began his professional career in the field of climate change in 2015, when he was a national consultant in the development of the first Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) to the achievement of the global goal of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) by the Republic of Tajikistan.

In 2016-2019, Mr. Saidov served as the deputy head of the project "Building Capacity for Adaptation to Climate Change", and also participated in the development of the National Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030.

In 2018-2020, he was a National Consultant in the Preparation of the First Biennial Report on Inventory of Greenhouse Gases, and the Fourth National Communication within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on gender aspects of climate change, creation of the MRV system, climate financing.

In 2019, he was a National Consultant for the development of the Tajikistan Country Program for the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

In addition, Mr. Saidov took part in the development of the “Mid-Term Development Programme of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025” in the section "Environmental Protection, Climate Change and Natural Disasters".

Currently, Firuz Saidov is the National Consultant for the updating NDC of the Republic of Tajikistan on adaptation to climate change and climate finance.
