The Fourth Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2021) will be held on July 26-27, 2021, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The conference will be conducted as a mix of in-person and virtual meetings.
The objective of the conference is to strengthen the regional dialogue, information and knowledge exchange in order to support climate-resilient evidence-based decision-making systems, as well as to explore the possibilities to ensure the synergy in climate projects implementation between international finance organizations and the development agencies in Central Asia.
A series of our publications will be dedicated to the speakers and moderators of the upcoming event. And, today, we would like to introduce you to Magzum Mirzagaliev, Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources. He will be a speaker at the high-level segment dedicated to 20 years of experience in regional cooperation and dialogue on Environment and Sustainable Development.
Magzum Mirzagaliev is the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
About his academic background. In 1999, Magzum Maratovich graduated from Turan University with a degree in international economics, in 2003 - from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a degree in international economics.
Magzum Mirzagaliev began his career in 2000 from the Akmola regional forestry department, where he held the position of a leading specialist in the department of financial and economic analysis.
From 2001 to 2002, he was a safety support manager at the Aktau branch of “MI Drilling Fluids International”, a company for the production of drilling fluids, disposal and recycling of drilling waste.
From 2002 to 2004, he was an intern in Houston (USA) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
From 2004 to 2007, he held the position of sales representative and production manager at the Aktau branch of “MI Drilling Fluids International”.
From 2007 to 2010, he was the General Director of “Tenizservice” LLP of JSC National company KazMunayGas”.
From 2010 to 2012, he served as the Managing Director for Service Projects at National Company KazMunayGas JSC.
From February 2012 to October 2013 - Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Innovative Development and Service Projects of the JSC NC “KazMunayGas”.
Starting from October 2013, he served as the Vice President of Oil and Gas of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
By the decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 17, 2019, he was appointed as the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources.
By the decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 18, 2021, he was re-appointed as the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources.
