Climate change is a topic that many of us are talking about right now. But at the same time, only a few who really understand it and know enough about it. There are probably a several dozen of experts in the Russian-speaking space. Even fewer among those can talk about it simply and interestingly. One of them is Mikhail Yulkin. It is important for us that he is always open to sharing his knowledge and experience in the Central Asian region.
Recently Mikhail has posted some of his lecture on his YouTube channel. On his channel Mikhail shares his own lectures, as well as the most relevant, in his opinion, lectures of world experts. This is a very valuable resource for climate information, which is interesting and useful.
Up to now, the following topics are presented on his channel:
- Decarbonization of the economy and regulation of greenhouse gas emissions;
-
Carbon prices and carbon subsidies;
-
How to calculate greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint of products;
-
Decarbonization as a global trend.
As you can see, the focus of his lectures is on economic development trends in the context of climate change and measures to combat it.
Mikhail Yulkin is the General Director of the Center for Environmental Investments, the founder and CEO of CarbonLab LLC, as well as an expert at the International Sustainable Energy Development Centre (ISEDC) under the auspices of UNESCO. Since 2017, the Center for Environmental Investments has been a member of the global network of expert organizations for the development of solutions for sustainable development (Sustainable Development Solutions Network, SDSN) under the auspices of the UN.
In addition, starting in 2017, Mikhail has taught the Modern Climate Policy course at MGIMO, as well as seminars and trainings on climate management for specialists and enterprise managers. In 2018, Mikhail published the book
Low Carbon Development: From Theory to Practice. It details the concept of a transition to low-carbon development. It should be emphasized that Michael is very active in the Central Asian region. So, for example, on April 21, 2020, he participated in a webinar held by the Kazakh-German University.
